Lévis, April, 15 2020. It's with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of the 7th edition of the Coupe Femina, originally scheduled for the 3rd and July, 4 2020. Until recently, we had hoped to move it to August. But in the light of the latest information, it would have been unwise to take this course of action in view of the prevailing uncertainty, and the risk to the health of our participants, our partners, our volunteers, those who support and encourage us, and their loved ones.
Our priority will always be your safety. We understand and support the efforts of our government to protect the population from this virus. We take this opportunity to salute and thank all those on the front line for their courage.
However, in spite of this, we are maintaining our training and leadership program for girls aged 15 to 17. Ten fine youngsters were selected at the end of the "Crew of the Future" competition, and we don't want to let them down. As soon as instructions permit, we'll be starting their training on the water, which will continue until 2021. In the meantime, they will benefit from online training.
The succession presentation dinner scheduled for May has also been cancelled and will be rescheduled, if possible, for the fall. Our other fund-raising activities, such as the Coupe Femina draw and the (virtual) silent auction, will go ahead as planned. Despite the situation, we intend to remain active with our network.
We would like to thank all our partners and all those who contribute in any way to the success of the Coupe Femina for their support and understanding during this difficult period.
